MKSCB Inter-Agency Policy & Procedures
New web-based Milton Keynes Safeguarding Children Board Inter Agency Policy and Procedures are now live and available on line and can be accessed by clicking on the following link:
web-based Procedures
Please note that these procedures replace and update the previous version so please make sure that you destroy any paper or electronic copies that you have made of the previous MKSCB policy and procedures.
Putting the procedures on line has allowed us to make some changes which will make the procedures easier for you to use:
1. The look of the procedures is different and the language has been simplified and clarified to ensure you are clear about what to do in particular circumstances
2. There is a search facility and hyperlinks to help you find the information you need more quickly and easily
3. There is a facility for you to contact us with any issues or changes required which will then be incorporated in future updates to the procedures
The procedures will be regularly updated in line with changes in national and local policy and procedures and although we will let you know when the procedures are being updated, you should not print out copies of the procedures and store these elsewhere so that you can be sure you are always working with the most up to date ones. If you do print any of the pages to help you will find that they are water marked with a reminder that they are only valid that day!

Interim Missing Person Protocol
The Government, the Police and Local Authorities, as well as voluntary sector agencies have long been concerned about the number of children missing from care or missing from home in England. It was part of the Children Plan that action be taken to improve co-ordination between partner agencies to better respond to children who are missing from home or care.
With this in mind a national indicator (NI 71) for partnership working around children missing from home/care was introduced in 2008/2009. It is a requirement that every Children’s Trust and Safeguarding Board have a policy in place and a protocol with partner agencies for responding to children missing from care or home.
Local authorities across Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes and Oxfordshire have agreed the following protocol with Thames Valley Police for children missing from care or home. This Protocol will be reviewed in six months time before it is formally adopted. We will learn from implementing this Protocol over the next six months in order to make it more effective and improve our response to children missing.
